Good Old Days...

A few years ago, I was going through my grandmother's photo albums, when I found a classic picture of my dad and my aunt.  The picture is from the mid 50's of the two of them dressed up for Halloween.  My aunt, the Robot, my dad, the Gangster, but not today's type of Gangsta :-P

It's one of those photographs that you chuckle at every time you see it.  What happened to these days?  What happened to home made Halloween costumes?  It's so simple, yet people spend $20-$40 bucks on an store bought costume that has no creativity behind it.  Look how inexpensive this was....a box painted silver, adult clothing stuffed to fit, and misc. items found around the house.  They could not have spent more than $10 on this, if even that for back in the day!  This is more entertaining than a store bought.

My mom had always made our costumes when we were younger.  My favorite was She-Ra.  She did a fab job on that one!  I remember walking proud with my sword and cape...sigh...

So my question to you, did your parents make your costumes when you were younger?

I totally had a She-Ra costume when I was little, too! Love homemade costumes! My mom always made them for us...

LOL! We never dressed up for Halloween, but I would totally make the costumes for our kids if we do trick or treating with them!
