Yesterday, it was announced that Sparky Anderson, one baseballs greatest managers, passed away. He was truly a wonderful man and showed much pride for the city of Detroit.
We all have our Sparky moments here in the city. I think this one has to be my favorite. For those of you who do not know, Kirk Gibson hit a history making home run in 1984, the year the Tigers won the World Series. Sparky in this clip, gives me chills thinking of that day. The excitement on his face is priceless.
During this game, my dad was watching my brother and I. At the age of 4, I thought it would be a great idea to push my brother off the couch, which landed him in the ER to get stitches. My dad always tells us how he was running back and forth in the waiting room of the hospital when this happened.
Sparky Anderson will always be apart of the city of Detroit and the Tigers.

It IS a sad day. :( But at least he's up there keeping Ernie company!
I am not from Detroit, but my sister-in-law is, and she was very saddened by the news. I'm sorry.
I remember when Harry Kalas (announcer for the Phillies) passed away. You may not know the person, but it still has a deep effect on you.
I'm sure baseball has lost a good man-- someone who can never be replaced.
