Office Decorated

After the paint and the rocker were completed, I had to fill the empty room with some personality.

First, I started with a lamp makeover.  I had this lamp for about 10 years from PB Teens.  I decided instead of photographs, I would use tissue paper to decorate the shade.

Here is all I needed.

And here is how it turned out!

The painting above the dresser was a great find at a local art show.

It is actually of the Scott Memorial Foutain on Belle Isle in Detroit.

Once the rocker was completed, it looked a little lonely.

I found this stool at a garage sale years ago for about $7.00.  It had such character.  Clint thinks I paid too much.  But it just looks so perfect next to the rocker!

While browsing through West Elm's site, I could not resist this Mirror Wreath.

The bookshelf even received a face lift!

While at a recent trip to Homegoods, I found these adorable book ends of rain boots.

~Sigh~My Parson's Desk has to be the best assest in the room.

Now the Office finally feels warm and fuzzy.  Still need to add a couple more things like a rug and more wall hangings.  I am thinking a mirror to bounce more light around the room.

Do you see anything I could add?

Oh my gosh, that dresser is amazing! I do think you need a bigger piece of art above it though, perhaps that wonderful painting can find a home on a smaller wall?

Love the local artwork - such a cool & personal touch! It's looking great! That stool is too cute (and I totally don't think you paid too much! :) ).

I love the piece of art work, though I think I might add a few more coordinating prints/photos. It will help it to pop and fill more of the wall.

I love that piece of art. I think something bigger could go over the dresser too, but the painting is pretty cool.

And I love those bookends. I saw those at Homegoods over the weekend too and thought about picking them up. They're super cute!

I agree with Sara, a bigger piece of art above that dresser would look fantastic! The painting you found is fabulous, I love the colors in it. And the rain boot bookends are adorable!

Thanks so much for the helpful comments! I totally agree. I have a few other pieces of art I am going to try in that place also. I do love that painting in there, though, plus it reminds me of when Clint and I got married. We were married on Belle Isle. So we will have to find a better spot for it.

That's the Scott Fountain, silly, not the bridge. ;)

Love the rain boot bookends, I need to shop at HomeGoods more often.

Favorite part: tissue paper in the lamp. Totally takes it from teen, to adult!

Love the stool, love the mirror wreath! I agree that the art could be bigger... Maybe you could just stick it on a big canvas, so it looks all dramatic. Small pieces look really special when they have a lot of mat surrounding them.

You've got lots of fun pieces in this room. The lamp is totally sophisticated now with that tissue paper! And I think Oonafey had a good idea about putting the art on a canvas or something to make it more substantial. It can be tricky to find a good spot for narrow paintings like that.
