The World is a Strange Place

On October 20th, 2008, my grandmother passed away.

She was my craft partner in crime.

Wednesday, October 20, my best friend's grandmother passed away.  She died of a similar illness that my grandmother did, congestive heart failure.

Ok, maybe not everyone would find this strange, but for some reason, it felt like my friend Denise and I were connected by this.  We share that day for the same reason now.  It makes me teary eyed to think of what we both have lost, and happy that we had our grandmothers in our lives.

If your grandparents are still alive, make sure to give them lots of hugs and kisses!

I totally understand where you're coming from. I lost my grandpa eight years ago this Thanksgiving (yes...on Thanksgiving, augh) and I think of him all the time. He was one of the greatest people I've ever known.

Your grandmother looks like quite the lady in that picture. I love the stylish scarf. :)

So sorry to hear but what an amazing coincidence.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. But I definitely know what you are saying about the connection. It might mean that you and your friend Denise are supposed to help each other through this loss. Because you can truly relate to the situation and how fresh it is.

Meredith - you would of made my grandma's day by commenting on her scarf! She was the type of lady that got dressed up for the mall.

Kristi - Yes! You got it!

Danielle, I'm sorry to hear this! My grandfather (or, my Pap pap) passed away in December of 2008, right after our wedding. It was so sad and I still get very upset just thinking about it.

Now they're all friends upstairs, right?

I'm so sorry for your loss, even after these two years.

what a sad, but special, connection between friends. my bubbie (hebrew for grandmother) was really the only grandparent i had growing up. i can't believe it's been 10 years since she passed. it sounds so long-10 years-but that loss feels so fresh, still.

I'm so sorry!!

I would pay almost any sum of money to have another get-together with my grandparents. I only have one left and I think about the other 3 constantly. On the one hand, they seriously shaped me and influenced me to be who I am today, but it's also almost a shame that you get them when you're young and not older. I feel like I didn't appreciate them nearly as much as I would now!

I still remember the love letters you shared with us. This couple touches my heart!

I am so sorry for your loss, sweetie. My grandfather has congestive heart failure and we almost lost him two years ago. He was in the hospital for 3 months! There was one day when they were sure we were going to lose him, it was ridiculously awful.
