I have been all over town searching for a buffet for my dining room. We realized we needed some extra storage to put my grandmother's china and little odds and ends away for safe keeping. I really wanted to find something I could refinish and make my own, instead of paying a ton of money for a new one. But everything I found was HUGE or over priced! Then I found this one at Target for $170, with free shipping and an additional 15% off !
Cute, huh. I really thought this was it. It was a little smaller than I wanted, but I thought I could make it work. Clint wasn't totally convinced this was it. On Saturday, I went to 3 antique stores and 1 thrift store with my mom and came home empty handed. Then Sunday, I fell in love.
Clint and I went to a couple antique stores and didn't find anything. I remembered one other store I wanted to try on the way home.
The best part, it was $48!
It needs a little work on the very top and I am not very crazy about the finish. I would also like to change out the handles and knobs. So, spring and summer, I may be sanding and staining.
I've seen a few of my blog friends with some great finds lately! Anyone else been having luck with great finds?

Wow, it's pretty! I love Target!
wow - i love your purchase - better then the target choice. I can't wait to see what it will look like after it's refinished. It never ceases to amaze me what people on other blogs i read do to used furniture w/ spray paint/ new upholst. or refinishing.
It makes me want to buy everything used!!!
that little piece will look great with a fresh coat of paint or stain and some new knobs!
back in June, JEGs and I hunted down a buffett on craigslist and I stained it, added new legs and new knobs and LOOOVE it.

Love it! It will look amazing with some new stain/paint. Great find!
So pretty! I liked the Target one, but this little guy has so much more character! :) Are you going to stain it or paint it? What a great deal!
Hey Jen...Not sure which I am going to do yet. I thought I would let it sit in the dining room till Spring and think about it. I was thinking either a darker stain or paint, though.
I love it! It has way more character than the Target one.
Awesome, and what a deal! I've been perusing craigslist for a console table lately, but to no avail. I need to find some good antique/thrift stores around here besides Goodwill.
Which thrift store did you go to? I've been hitting up a few around here and did find a great chair at Vogue Vintage Too in Ferndale.
In answer to your question about drains backing up in the basement - I did worry about that when remodeling but I specifically built walls in certain areas to avoid that issue (I'll point it out in a future post). I also use a Rid-X one a month and haven't had any backups in two years (fingers crossed I didn't just jinx myself!).
Love your find. We have the Target one only in a black finish & while I like it, it is really small. Yours looks much bigger & I'm sure you'll rock the refinishing job. Great find!
