Easy DIY

Saturday, Halloween night.  I was all excited.  I turned on our spider lights, lit the candles in our pumpkins, and turned on our porch light.  Then waited...and waited...and waited.  By 8pm, no trick or treaters came to my home.  :*-(.  I was pretty sad.  But I am not giving up!  Next year, we are doing it bigger and hopefully that will draw more trick or treaters to the house.  Where we live is very close to a busy main road.  So I am sure that has a lot to do with it.  But I still want to see the fun costumes and pass out candy, darn it!

So Sunday was spent on taking down the Halloween decorations.  We leave up the Harvest decorations, such as the cornstalks, hay, and pumpkins.  If you are looking for more great ideas, I found a bunch of fun DIY projects at Martha Stewart.

First is a mirror with an acorn frame.  How easy would this be!  You could even use pine cones or sticks!  Directions here.

Or what about a decorative door hanging made of Indian Corn.  Directions here.

What would you do with those gourds after Halloween?  How about making Groud Vases from them as a centerpiece?

So just a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing.

Aww... I'm so sorry that you missed out on trick-or-treaters! I didn't even put my porch light on because I know that my street doesn't get any. In my area, the parents drive their kids to a specific family-dense part of the neighborhood and go trick-or-treating at their friends' houses.

Hey, thanks for dropping by - I like your suggestions for home decor - poor you getting no trick or treaters though after all the effort...fingers crossed for next year! Oh I am so envious of all Americans right now having got back from my holiday there...with no green card I shall never get to live there again... :( You are so lucky! xxx

I love DIY things, only because it tends to be cheaper than buying it pre-made :)
