As I promised, I would like to show off my very interesting finds from a recent visit to an antique store. My mom and I ventured out in search of whatever caught our eye. First was this darling candle holder.
It was $7.00 and I could not pass it up! Ignore the country blue candles. Those will be changed out when I decide where it will be hung. Maybe in our breeze way over the table?
Next was an interesting purchase.
Yes, those are oars. I went through the entire store trying to figure out where I could hang them and thought, for $12 a piece, I would figure something out. They were also 30% off, which I didn't find out till I got to the register.
Look at the great detail on them! I love the weathered wood and chipped paint. They just have charm.
When I brought them home, Clint thought I was nuts. Then I opened up the latest Pottery Barn catalog and showed him this.
Not so crazy am I anymore!
I am thinking the breeze way may get a makeover in the fall with these two purchases as my inspiration.
By the way, thanks for all the sweet comments concerning my kidney stones. I am doing better and in a small amount of pain, due to the stent. I am hoping to be back to normal this week.

I LOVE the oars. Seriously want some to put above the fireplace in the next house. Now, I'm totally on the prowl. ;)
I just saw a blog that put them above her master bed, it looked great!
Love the candleholder! That is so pretty! Also those oars would look great hung horizontally too-- if you have any long open spaces. I love the chippy paint, awesome finds!
Um, I LOVE the oars. They're perfect!!
Oars! Love them.
glad you are feeling better - I would have grabbed those oars up in a heart beat too -
can't wait to see what you do with them!! Have a good week
glad to hear you're feeling better! Hope things are back to normal soon!
And, I love those oars... can't wait to see what you do with them!
the oars are super cute - the look so perfectly weathered! I could see them in a little baby's room in the future, just saying :)
I'm realling diggin' those oars! In a similar way, I have my old hockey sticks - 2 of them - and I REFUSE to give them up. I just know they can be used as art somewhere, right? They're full of battle scars, after all :)
Great finds - I especially love the oars!
Glad to hear you are on the mend :) Know what's funny? 2 weeks ago I had a little kidney stone issue, but I didn't end up in the hospital - I know how much pain I was in (honestly worse than child birth)- I can't imagine how much pain you were in!
I really love the candle chandelier! Can't wait to see where you put it!!
I Luuuurrrvvvv that candle holder!
And um.. ahem... if you decide you can't use it, you can send it my way.

I saw a fantastic picture in a magazine once (Country Living maybe?) that used oars as curtain rods. I bet those would be perfect for something like that. But maybe I'm insane for like that idea?
