For months, Clint has been pushing for a flat screen TV. Oh you should of heard it!! What made me finally cave was, "All my friends have one!" He might as well of thrown himself on the floor and started kicking and screaming. I am a very simple person. I have never needed a large TV. I mean, the TV's we have now work perfectly fine! I even had one since I was 12!
So, Clint had some rules he had to follow in order for us to get a flat screen:
1.) I wanted nothing bigger than 37 inches. Our living room is tiny. Putting anything bigger in there would of looked like an AMC theather!
2.) It had to be below $700.
That was it. It was challenging. We did our homework. He wanted a TV with 1080p and 120 Hz. Don't ask me what either of those mean. We searched everywhere. All the stores you can think of. I guess 37" TV's are not in high demand. Anything we found was outragous in price or not what he was looking for.
So, we had to settle on a 32" TV, which was fine for me, but heartbreaking for Clint. Tuesday night, we went to Best Buy and found our TV. The Insignia 32" LCD TV came home with us. I am still not 100% sold that we needed a TV, but he is very happy. He better be, after all the nagging I got!
Is it just me, or has shopping for a TV become much more difficult?

It is extremely difficult. So many things to look for and choices. I let my hubby pick what he wants and I go with it :)
Oh my gosh. What is it with men and televisions? I swear Lee wants one for every room. For now, we just have his TV from childhood and another one his friend gave away, but he is always hinting about wanting another one. I've been able to hold him off for a while, but I have a feeling he'll be using some of your husband's techniques very soon.
But, I'm thinking this will be my opportunity to wheel and deal and get something I've wanted that he always says is frivolous. Like a new backsplash maybe?
The good news is that now you've got ammo, Danielle! If there's anything you've been wanting and he tries to say no, you can totally pull out the, "Remember when I was a good wife and got my husband that big TV he wanted even though we didn't need it?" ;)
I'm afraid I am on clint's side for this one -
even though i am a girl
the bigger the better in tv's for me - it's so much better to watch football on -
don't hate me -
Oh, yikes, I have one of those, too (the husband with the begging for things). I always let him pick the electronics stuff... because it doesn't really matter to me!
Meg - hehe...that is how I got my Parson's Desk from West Elm, which he wanted also.
Elizabeth - Of course I don't hate you! Some people like the big TV's and thats fine. If I had a bigger living room, we would have a bigger TV then.
I feel your pain. We currently have a 42" Vizio and apparently we need an even bigger TV since our family room is much bigger than our living room. I don't get it. I hope Clint isn't a big video gamer, too.
YES, it is such a headache with all the options! When we finally decided to buy our flat-screen TV a couple years ago, I think we researched for weeks (or at least it felt like it). We went back and forth from store to store. Ended up getting a 42" Samsung plasma, which we've been pretty happy with. Sometimes I wish we would have held out longer because prices have dropped a lot since then! They're still pricey though.
Danielle, that is the same brand we got for our bedroom! I'm glad you survived the television picking out process at least...
I decided that we needed a new TV because we watch a lot of movies and the old one was from my 14th B-Day, was white, and had a large green demagnetized spot in the corner. LOL But luckily, I have a Costco membership. I was looking for a 32" because our LR is only 13 ft. wide, but the 37" was only $50 more, so I bought it. It's huge... Ginormous, actually. oh well.
Yes, it HAS! I was just saying the same thing the other day!
